Delicate flower in soft natural light - anxiety and phobia therapy Worthing

Anxiety & Phobias

Anxiety can affect every aspect of life, making even everyday situations feel overwhelming. You may find yourself constantly worrying, overthinking, avoiding certain situations or experiencing physical symptoms such as a racing heart, tight chest, dizziness, difficulty sleeping or panic attacks.

Phobias can be just as limiting. Whether it's a fear of flying, driving, public speaking, needles, medical procedures, confined spaces, animals or another specific fear, these anxieties can begin to control your choices and reduce your quality of life.

The good news is that anxiety and phobias are highly treatable.

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, EMDR Practitioner and Registered Nurse, I use a personalised, evidence-informed approach to help you understand the underlying causes of your anxiety and reduce its impact on your daily life. Rather than simply managing symptoms, we work together to address the thoughts, emotions and patterns that keep anxiety going.

Depending on your individual needs, I may integrate Clinical Hypnotherapy, EMDR, relaxation techniques, breathing strategies and practical psychological approaches to help you feel calmer, more confident and in control.

I regularly support clients with:

  • Generalised Anxiety
  • Panic Attacks
  • Social Anxiety
  • Health Anxiety
  • Work-Related Stress
  • Performance Anxiety
  • Fear of Flying
  • Fear of Driving
  • Needle Phobia
  • Dental Anxiety
  • Claustrophobia
  • Emetophobia (fear of vomiting)
  • Animal and Insect Phobias
  • Public Speaking Anxiety
  • Examination and Interview Anxiety

Every therapy plan is tailored to you, your experiences and your goals. My aim is to help you break free from the cycle of fear, build lasting confidence and regain the freedom to enjoy your life without anxiety holding you back.

Raw mineral crystal in soft light — trauma and PTSD therapy Worthing

Trauma & PTSD

Many people live with the effects of trauma without realising how deeply it continues to influence their daily lives. Trauma may result from a single distressing event or from repeated experiences such as childhood adversity, abuse, bullying, accidents, medical procedures, military service, loss or difficult relationships.

You may experience anxiety, panic attacks, intrusive memories, nightmares, emotional numbness or find yourself reacting in ways that don't seem to make sense.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I provide a safe and compassionate approach to help your nervous system process experiences that have remained "stuck".

Alongside my private practice, I have worked with military veterans through Icarus Charity, supporting individuals affected by PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety and the challenges of adjusting to civilian life. This experience has deepened my understanding of trauma, resilience and the importance of creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, safety and respect.

Every treatment is individually tailored. Depending on your needs, I may integrate EMDR, clinical hypnotherapy, relaxation techniques and other evidence-based approaches to help reduce emotional distress and support lasting recovery.

My aim is not simply to help you cope but to help you regain confidence, reconnect with yourself and move forward with greater emotional freedom.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-established psychological therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories in a healthier way.

Unlike traditional talking therapies, EMDR does not require you to repeatedly describe traumatic experiences in detail. Instead, it helps the brain reprocess memories so they lose their emotional intensity while remaining part of your life story.

EMDR has been extensively researched and is recommended internationally for the treatment of trauma and PTSD. It can also be highly effective for anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, grief, performance anxiety, medical trauma, low self-esteem and distressing life experiences.

As both an EMDR practitioner and clinical hypnotherapist, I often integrate these approaches when appropriate, creating an individually tailored treatment plan to each client.

Relationships & Attachment

Our earliest relationships often shape how we experience love, trust and connection throughout life.

If you find yourself repeatedly attracting similar partners, fearing rejection, struggling with boundaries or losing yourself in relationships, these patterns often have deeper roots rather than being personal failings.

Together we explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion.

Using clinical hypnotherapy, EMDR and psychological approaches, we work to identify the beliefs and emotional experiences that continue to influence your relationships today.

Whether you are recovering from a difficult relationship, struggling with anxious attachment, rebuilding after betrayal or simply wanting healthier connections, therapy can help you develop greater emotional security, confidence and self-awareness.

Confidence & Self-Esteem

Low confidence rarely appears overnight. It often develops gradually through life experiences, criticism, trauma, bullying or repeated disappointments.

Many people appear successful on the outside while privately struggling with self-doubt, perfectionism, people-pleasing or the feeling that they are "not enough".

Therapy can help uncover where these beliefs began and gently replace them with healthier, more balanced ways of thinking.

By combining clinical hypnotherapy, EMDR and practical psychological strategies, I help clients build genuine self-confidence, improve emotional resilience and feel more comfortable being themselves.

The goal isn't becoming a different person; it's becoming the person you've always been beneath the self-doubt.

Medical Hypnotherapy

Our physical and emotional health are closely connected. Living with a medical condition, chronic pain or undergoing treatment can affect every aspect of life, increasing stress, anxiety and reducing overall wellbeing.

As a Registered Nurse with more than 30 years of clinical experience, alongside my qualifications in Clinical Hypnotherapy and EMDR, I understand the challenges that medical conditions can bring. My nursing background allows me to work safely and compassionately alongside conventional medical care, helping you manage the emotional and psychological impact of illness while supporting your overall wellbeing.

Medical hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical treatment. Instead, it is used alongside the care provided by your healthcare team to help reduce anxiety, improve coping, promote relaxation and enhance quality of life.

I can support clients experiencing:

  • Chronic pain and persistent pain conditions
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Stress-related physical symptoms
  • Fear of needles, injections or blood tests
  • Dental anxiety
  • Fear of hospitals, scans or medical procedures
  • Anxiety before surgery or medical treatment
  • Cancer treatment support, helping manage anxiety, stress and emotional wellbeing throughout treatment and recovery
  • Sleep difficulties associated with illness or chronic stress

Every treatment plan is individually tailored, combining Clinical Hypnotherapy, relaxation techniques and, where appropriate, EMDR and other evidence-based approaches.

I aim to help you feel calmer, more confident and better equipped to manage the emotional challenges that often accompany physical health conditions, empowering you to work alongside your medical treatment with greater resilience and peace of mind.

If you are unsure whether hypnotherapy may be appropriate for your medical condition, please get in touch. I'm happy to discuss your individual circumstances and, where necessary, work alongside your GP or healthcare professional.

Delicate butterfly in soft natural light — therapy for children and teenagers Worthing

Adults, Children & Teens

Emotional wellbeing is important at every stage of life.

I work with adults, teenagers and children experiencing anxiety, fears, low confidence, school-related stress, exam anxiety, emotional difficulties, behavioural challenges and life transitions.

Children often express emotional distress differently from adults. Rather than focusing solely on talking, I adapt sessions using age-appropriate techniques, play, imagination, relaxation, therapeutic stories and practical coping strategies to help them feel safe and understood.

As a registered nurse and clinical training specialist working with children and adults with complex needs, I understand the importance of creating therapy that is flexible, compassionate and tailored to the individual.

Parents are supported throughout the process, ensuring children develop practical skills they can continue using beyond therapy.

Neurodiversity

Every brain works differently, and therapy should respect those differences.

Many neurodivergent people experience anxiety, emotional overwhelm, masking, low self-esteem, burnout or difficulties navigating relationships and life transitions.

My approach is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming and adapted to the individual's communication style, sensory preferences and processing needs.

Therapy is never about changing who you are. Instead, it aims to help you better understand yourself, reduce distress and develop strategies that allow you to thrive while embracing your unique strengths.

Stress & Burnout

Modern life places enormous demands on us.

Whether you're balancing work, family responsibilities, caring for others or simply feeling overwhelmed by constant pressure, prolonged stress can begin to affect both your physical and emotional wellbeing.

Burnout often develops gradually, leaving you exhausted, emotionally drained, anxious and disconnected from the things you once enjoyed.

With over 30 years' experience working within healthcare, I understand first-hand the impact that chronic stress can have on both the mind and body.

Using clinical hypnotherapy, EMDR and practical stress-management strategies, I help clients calm their nervous system, improve emotional resilience and regain a healthier balance in life.

Together we focus not only on reducing stress but also on preventing it from continuing to control your life.

Supporting Military Veterans

Alongside my private practice, I have worked with military veterans through Icarus Charity, supporting individuals affected by PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety and the challenges of adjusting to civilian life. This experience has deepened my understanding of trauma, resilience and the importance of creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, safety and respect.

Service-related trauma is unique. The experiences that lead to PTSD in military life are often intense, repeated and layered - and adjusting to civilian life can bring its own set of challenges, from loss of identity and purpose to difficulties in relationships and emotional regulation.

Using EMDR, Clinical Hypnotherapy and evidence-based psychological approaches, I provide a safe and confidential space where you can begin to process what you have been through and move forward with greater emotional freedom.

You do not need to face this alone.
